titel

The Euchologion is the most important book of rituals of the Byzantine liturgy. It includes all the texts for ritual acts: the liturgical forms, prayers – both spoken and silent – and the most important canons of the ecclesiastical councils.
The Orthodox theologian Peter Mogila, Metropolitan of Kiev, compiled this work because he regarded the existent ritual books as not being sufficiently complete and wanted to counteract the influence of the West on the Orthodox church. The Euchologion appeared in 1646 and is the most detailed of all Slavic and Greek books of rituals altogether.
This magnificent volume is decorated with 19 woodcuts, ornamental borders, vignettes and numerous initials.
